My husband, daughter and I went to safeway westmount edmonton division store number 838 yesterday September 6. Since school is starting so we decided to buy some stuffs for our kid. My husband took a basket and started to take some items and same as me. My husband told me that he needs to go somewhere to grab some things for sandwiches and me stayed to another section of the store. Since I dont have the basket with me, items are started to piling on my hands and I even used my daughter's hands too. Since we are near the door and I saw this lady (her name is Antoinette) sorting baskets by the door but she is at outside part, I ask her a favor, I was even smiling, " I said, can you do me favor? Can you pass me one basket please?" I cannot get through the door because those items that we were holding are not scanned yet and the detector is in between of us. This Antoinette wave her hand and told to me to "come and get one". That was unbelieveable. Worst customer service ever. It will not kill her to pass through the door and hand me one basket wherein fact that is her job. I was so mad and told her "ohhh yeah, never mind then. Thank you. I can get one myself. You are too nice!". So I went to one of the counters and grab one with these pile of boxes on our hands. I am not sure if she followed me because I saw her again and telling me again " i am telling you to get one". I answered her same thing but I was already shaking. Simple things supposedly that can make your customer smile because of your help but can ruin the day too and make you decide not to come back on this location again. I know that you have still have lots of customers coming but who knows with this kind of employee atittude, she might be pushing some more someday.
I work in a customer service industry too as a manager so I know how it is supposed to be. Proper training is my suggestion.

September 15, 2015 at around 7:40 PM. me and my husband went to The Safeway store at Marion Street, Winnipeg to find a birthday cake for our child.
We went to the bakery area and decided to get a cake, but no body there. We saw a sign that we can ask help from the customer service. We went there and there were two times announcements to get the customer service at the bakery area. We had been waited for almost 30 minutes but no one came.
My husband went to ask for help again as we can't do it by ourselves. Waited for another 10 more minutes but no one came, my husband became angry about the service. The lady at the cashier told us that they are closed. Then we went to the cashier asking to get a floating balloon which already prepared at the cashier, the guy responded that we needed to contact the customer service whether we can buy it.
(I was amazed of how these cashier were train to response to their customers, by being pushing away to customer services but no one is working there!) I asked him back that should I contact by myself or is you to contact? ( I think it is his job not me) a minute later, the customer service appeared and started to complained that she went to the bakery area and couldn't find us, while I heard another cashier saying that "the big people is here!" This made me so angry but I didn't want to response to her. I wanted to complain that this shouldn't be the practice for employee to say that to customers. I didnt expect any special treat at all, just a regular services that Safeway can do simply.
We are very disappointed.
We always purchase grocery from Safeway. Today, I m reluctant to go.

T-Bone steak not displayed when on sale
Safeway and Co-op have T-bone steaks on sale every 3 weeks or so.
I watch for the sales and look at the meat. i like to find a steak with marbling and a large fillet, with trimmed fat.
The Safeway stores in my neighborhood have consistently and purposely not had the T-Bone's out for display. They do not even have the sticker out for the meat.
This is not a mistake or that they are out of stock, no it is because they do not sell enough of these type of steaks in my neighborhood.
This is a sale item that is in there flyer.
I go there purposely to view and possibly buy a steak.

I never give a feedback to any retail I go but this experience was the worst one I ever encountered in my life..I went to safeway gas bar at 32nd ave and 36 street in the NE Calgary this morning around 8:50..Lets start with your gas filling station.I tried to pay debit 3 times but it always says remove and reinsert.what a waste of time....then go inside the store to pay but rudely treated by staff named Ching.I asked the guy named Alex why the debit doesn't work in the gas machine and he it never worked then suddenly approached by Ching and asked me how did you insert your card with a sarcastic voice..when I told her "I inserted it chip in" .She said"No that machine has no chip reader so you have to insert it the other way".."you have to learn how to read the instruction before you asked us..she told
me with a sarcastic voice and look me like I am so ***...while she drinking her coffee..I was so disappointed with the service..There's no even instruction on the machine says no chip reader...Hellooooo every one else has a chip reader at this time..Who would people think that this big gas bar has no chip reader.No one said Hi....in the first place and yet very rude staff...Not good to start a morning...That lady needs more training in customer service.Hope this feedback helps you improve and hope this won't happen to anyone else...I will not comeback to any of your groceries nor gas stations ever..

I agree its so sad when you and i work hard for our money and the store is putting old food on the shelf. I have had that happen to me so much at safeway...
Not to mention the price errors and staff refuse to know what the proper pricing law is and how it works. If you try to exercise it its like a big deal.
